"What time should I post?" is one of the most common questions creators ask. The honest answer: there are good general windows, but the best time is the one that matches your audience. Use the windows below as a starting point, then test.

Why posting time matters (a little)

When you post, the platform first shows your video to a small group of people. If they watch and react, it shows it to more. Posting when your followers are online gives your video a better first test. But a great video posted at a "bad" time will still find its audience — timing helps, it doesn't replace quality.

General posting windows

These are common peak times in your viewers' local time, based on when people usually have their phones out: commutes, lunch breaks and evenings.

PlatformGood windows
Instagram ReelsWeekdays 11am–1pm and 7–9pm
TikTokWeekdays 7–9am and 6–9pm
YouTube ShortsWeekends 12–3pm, weekday evenings 7–10pm
LinkedInTuesday–Thursday 8–10am
X (Twitter)Weekdays 8–10am and 12–1pm

Post about 30 minutes before a peak so your video is ready when people arrive.

Find your own best time in 2 weeks

  1. Check your insights. Instagram, TikTok and YouTube all show when your followers are most active. Start there.
  2. Pick two time slots — for example 12pm and 8pm.
  3. Alternate for two weeks. Post at slot A one day, slot B the next.
  4. Compare after 48 hours. Look at views and average watch time for each video at the same point after posting.
  5. Keep the winner, then test it against a new slot next month.

Write your results down. A simple note with date, time, views and watch time is enough to see a pattern.
